Now my question is this;
The Pope is supposed to be Gods Vicar on earth and an example of Christian piety and forgiveness. Gabriele has admitted his guilt and is unlikely to do it again, so shouldn't the Pope forgive him, turn the other cheek and be an example to the world of the power of his faith in cessation of resentment?What would Jesus do?

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Failing that, does the guy really have to go to jail? Can't he just be sent to another parish?

ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how judgemental some christians are, about gays etc. Really what they should do is extend their hand in friendship and let their god do the judging.
To judge, when that is the excusive right of your god, could be taken as presumtion to a blasphemous degree.

ReplyDeleteBeside the obvious contradictions, there really are two problems I have with religion;
First, in the Christian faith, the Creator of the Universe can't forgive people who are sorry for their wrongs and tell him. For him to forgive, they not only have to say they are sorry but also need to know that the only way he will forgive them is that they understand he let his own son die horribly and that is a proxy death sentence to punish you for what you have and might ever do wrong. A bit harsh for coveting the bloke next door's missus. This makes no sense to me on any level whatsoever.
Second, applying to most faiths, the Creator who made absolutely every atom of every structure always needs money, lot and lots of it. He can build the Universe but is incapable of telling you why and what is required of you unless you pay a 'representative' to tell you. Usually the more you pay the better things will go for you.
